March is Poison Prevention Awareness Month! Storing potentially hazardous items in areas your pets will not be able to access (such as cleaning products, medications, batteries, and chemicals) are very important in poison prevention. Other items that can be toxic to pets include foods like xylitol (artificial sweetener), grapes, raisins, and chocolate, along with common plants found in a household or gardens like tulips, daffodils, lilies, and many tropical plants and trees. If you have any concerns your pet may have been exposed to or ingested a toxin, please contact the Pet Poison Helpline immediately at 1-800-213-6680.
